Pop-up Event! Join us on Thursday, April 12, 9:30am, at the Community Church of Durham to watch the 1949 movie classic, Lost Boundaries. Filmed in southern New Hampshire, this movie tells the true story of Dr. Albert C. Johnson and family who passed for white while living in Gorham and Keene, NH in the ’30’s and ’40’s and how their lives changed after Dr. Johnson was rejected by the US Navy when an investigation revealed his racial background. Come see this film whose theme is in keeping with our ongoing community effort to better understand issues of white privilege in America.
Community Dinner & Author Visit: Debby Irving will speak at Oyster River High School on April 16. Dinner begins at 6pm, talk is at 7pm. Debby Irving is the author of Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race. Community Church Director of Educational Ministries, Kristin Forselius will be on a panel with Debby Irving on NHPR’s The Exchange on Thursday, April 12. The program airs live at 9:00am and is rebroadcast at 7:00pm.
