Worship This Spring, 2020

From All Walks of Life, Joined in Communion

Every Sunday @ 10 am, through a ZOOM link, or Facebook Live

During this ‘stay-at-home’ spring, we gather in spirit for weekly worship, every Sunday morning at 10.  You’ll meet Pastor Dave and join him in prayers and song.  You’ll hear church friends as they read our weekly readings aloud.  And you’ll be invited–with the beloved community–to celebrate the Eucharist, the breaking of bread in solidarity with Jesus and the body of Christ.  You’ll find a link to our Sunday service in an e-letter that arrives every Saturday morning.  Or you can find us live on “Facebook Live” at 10.

As spring turns to summer, and then summer to fall, we do imagine that our online opportunities will continue.  Even as we begin to gather again–in our bright sanctuary in Downtown Durham–some will choose to join us virtually, to take advantage of ongoing web-based programming.  Watch this space as we work out the details, schedules and process of this…we’re all evolvoing, all the time!

What Did Easter Look Like? Our On-Line Easter Celebration

An Open & Affirming Church, On the Move in Faith

Our Easter Sunday service was a first: one pastor, a viritual congregation from all over the country, and a very different kind of connected community.  Included in all this: all kinds of music, readings from young members and children and a ‘dancing’ communion at the end!  If you missed this Easter Celebration, you’re welcome to watch here: EASTER SUNDAY WORSHIP

Morning Lauds: Daily Prayer

An Easter Faith becomes an Easter Practice

Morning Lauds: Daily Prayers with Dave Grishaw-Jones

Dave Grishaw-Jones invites friends from anywhere and everywhere to join him for “Morning Lauds”–a simple liturgy of daily prayers every morning at 9 am.  Dave incorporates Psalms and poetry, silence and meditation, simple chant and a contemporary rendering of Jesus’ familiar prayer.  You’ll find these daily prayers on Facebook Live, beginning at 9 am, and then again posted on Dave’s blog every day.  They usually take about 15 to 20 minutes: and all are most welcome to pray with us!
